@RISK (pronounced “at risk”) software is an add-in tool for Microsoft Excel that helps you make better decisions through risk modeling and analysis. Find the Best Resource Allocation under Uncertainty

RISKOptimizer combines the Monte Carlo simulation technology of @RISK, Palisade’s risk analysis add-in, with the latest solving technology to allow the optimization of Excel spreadsheet models that contain uncertain values. Take any optimization problem and replace uncertain values with @RISK probability distribution functions that represent a range of possible values. For each trial solution RISKOptimizer tries during optimization, it runs a Monte Carlo simulation, finding the combination of adjustable cells that provides the best simulation results.

ScheduleRiskAnalysis analyzes schedule risk using Monte Carlo simulation with @RISK. This means SRA shows you virtually all possible outcomes in your schedule – and tells you how likely each is to occur. SRA helps you judge which risks to take, and which ones to avoid. SRA also ranks your risks, enabling you to identify the variables which impact your schedule the most. With SRA, you can:

PrecisionTree


Visualize Different Outcomes with Decision Trees

With PrecisionTree, you can analyze and see the payoff and probability of each possible path through a decision tree. PrecisionTree nodes and functions may be added to any cell in a spreadsheet and can include arguments that are cell references and expressions – allowing great flexibility in defining decision models.

PrecisionTree determines the best decision to make at each decision node and marks the branch for that decision TRUE. Once your decision tree is complete, PrecisionTree creates a full decision analysis statistics report on the best decision to make and its comparison with alternative decisions. PrecisionTree can also create a Risk Profile graph that compares the payoffs and risk of different decision options. It displays probability and cumulative charts showing the probabilities of different outcomes and of an outcome less than or equal to a certain value.

TopRank


Identify Critical Factors using Automated What-If Analysis

Simply take your existing spreadsheet model, select any cell or cells as outputs, and TopRank scans the spreadsheet to find cells which affect your results. Click the ‘Run What-if’ button and TopRank tries different values for each variable cell, changing values over ranges such as -10% and +10%. Each time a new value is tried, the spreadsheet is recalculated and new results are generated. Upon completion, TopRank ranks the variable cells according to the effect they have on your selected outputs. You can also select exactly which cells you wish to vary, and by how much, for a more customized analysis.

TopRank uses Vary functions in Excel to vary inputs across a range. TopRank functions are true Excel functions, and behave exactly as native Excel functions do. TopRank windows point to the cells they refer to via callouts, and changes in one place are automatically carried out in the other.

First, define your data in StatTools. Then, perform any of over 30 different types of analysis on your data set, depending on your situation. StatTools provides a comprehensive and intuitive data set and variable manager right in Excel. Data sets and variables can reside in different workbooks, allowing you to organize your data as you see fit. Run statistical analyses that refer to your variables, instead of re-selecting your data over and over again in Excel. Plus, you can define variables that span multiple worksheets. Once your data sets have been defined, choose a procedure from the StatTools menu or write your own, custom procedure.

Evolver, using innovative “mutations” and combinations of solutions, or “organisms,” is wellsuited to finding the best overall answer by exploring the entire universe of possible answers. Plus the use of OptQuest as optimization engine with the unique set of powerful algorithms and sophisticated analysis techniques including metaheuristics optimization, evolutionary algorithms, tabu search and scatter search, to name a few. As a result, OptQuest enables users to shift from a “What if?” approach to a “What’s best?” approach. This includes complicated, nonlinear problems where the best local solution may not be the best absolute answer. After an optimization, the user can choose whether to keep the best solution, or revert the workbook the its pre-optimization state. This makes it easy to decide the best course of action.
